What the fair is
Piedmont Craftsmen says the fair has “honored the tradition of fine craftsmanship and innovative design” for more than 60 years. The 2025 fair was the 62nd.
The guild says more than 100 artisans from across the United States take part, selling one-of-a-kind work in:
- clay and pottery
- wood
- glass
- fiber and leather
- metal and jewelry
- photography and printmaking
- mixed media
Pieces range from the functional to the purely decorative and sculptural. The exhibiting artists are members of the guild, which the organizer calls one of the nation’s most respected craft guilds; applications to exhibit are closed for 2026 and reopen for 2027.
What to do there
- Shop for gifts. The organizer pitches the fair as a place to find one-of-a-kind gifts, from pottery to jewelry and woodwork, all made by hand by the people selling it.
- Meet the makers. Artists are at their booths and talk about their process and materials.
- Watch demonstrations. Live artist demonstrations run during the fair.
- Enter the raffle. A free raffle gives away handcrafted pieces by participating artists.
- See the award winners. Each year the fair hands out Awards of Excellence for innovation, technical skill and design. In 2025 the five winners included glass artists Veronica and David Bennett and printmaker Linda Gourley.
