Where it is
The district lies west of South Main Street, with Broad Street, Cascade Avenue and Acadia Avenue among its streets. The plan names two commercial centers inside the neighborhood:
- The Washington Park Activity Center, about 7 acres along West Acadia Avenue between Hollyrood Street and South Broad Street, which the plan says serves the Washington Park and Sunnyside neighborhoods and UNC School of the Arts students and staff.
- The Southeast Gateway Activity Center, about 29 acres along West Salem Avenue.
National Register listing does not bring design review. The plan says Washington Park is “not locally designated,” so the Historic Resources Commission “does not have review authority” over construction, demolition or rehabilitation there. The plan also points owners to the tax credit programs available for rehabilitating National Register properties.

How we built this page
The outline we used is the National Register boundary published by the state historic preservation office; the descriptions come from the city’s South Central area plan. School zones come from the city’s map layers, checked at evenly spaced points; confirm an address with the district. We found no public list of homeowners associations for Washington Park, so this page does not describe them.
