Where Winston-Salem and Forsyth County legal notices are published: the state press association's notices site, city and county notice pages, agendas and bids.

Last checked Oct. 11, 2026. This page is an index, not the official publication of any notice. Each notice’s legal home is the newspaper or government site where it is published; follow the links below. For city questions, call CityLink at 311 or 336-727-8000; for county questions, call the office named in the notice.

Public notices tell residents about government actions that could affect them: hearings, rezonings, budgets, bids, foreclosures, estate filings and unclaimed property. In Winston-Salem they appear in several places.

Where to look

1. North Carolina newspaper notices

North Carolina law still requires many notices to run in a newspaper. The North Carolina Press Association’s ncnotices.com compiles public notices first published in North Carolina newspapers and is free to search by keyword, newspaper or category. That includes foreclosures, estate notices to creditors, construction bids, unclaimed property and assumed business names.

2. Forsyth County

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners posts public hearing and meeting notices on its notices page, with older items in its archived news. Commissioners’ meetings are live-streamed from the same section of the county site.

Election notices, including early voting sites and hours, are on the Board of Elections site; see our voting guide. Tax foreclosure and delinquent tax advertising is handled by Forsyth County Tax Administration. Under state law the county can advertise unpaid real estate taxes from March 1 to June 30; see our property taxes guide.

3. City of Winston-Salem

  • Rezonings and planning cases: Each month the City-County Planning Board posts its agenda, a map of petitions and the legal ad for the meeting on its 2026 Planning Board items page. Cases that need a final vote go on to the City Council.
  • City Council and board agendas: in the city’s Agenda Center, including the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
  • Federal and housing notices: the city posts notices such as findings of no significant impact for federally funded projects in its news flash, for example a combined notice posted Oct. 8, 2026.
  • Historic preservation notices: on the Historic Resources Commission’s public notices page.
  • Bids and contracts: on the city’s bids page. By state law, the city must award many construction contracts to the lowest responsive bidder, with City Council approval, as the city explains on its Old Salisbury Road project page.
