How we made this list. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Winston-Salem’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 12, 2026. We added Don Zapata’s and Tulum Bar & Grill, which OpenStreetMap does not tag as Mexican, because their own sites give Winston-Salem addresses. We left out restaurants whose web addresses now lead to unrelated pages or to a restaurant in another state, and several whose sites would not load. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. Run one of these places? Write to us to correct your entry.

Don Zapata’s says it serves Mexican food and takes reservations, online orders, party bookings and catering at its Jonestown Road restaurant.

El Rancho Tacos traces its recipes to a grandmother in Guadalajara, Jalisco, who sold birria tacos to support her family; a grandson later opened a taco stand in the United States. Its menu features tacos, a taco salad bowl and carne en chile verde, and it caters events.

The Porch is a casual, family-friendly Tex-Mex restaurant at West End Millworks. It began in 2010 as a meal delivery service, Dinners on the Porch, and opened as a restaurant in 2014; it now focuses on tacos and margaritas and still runs the dinner delivery service Tuesday to Saturday. Seating is first come, first served, with reservations for groups of six or more.

Taco Bell has three locations on this list: Silas Creek Parkway, Summit Point Lane in the north and Westbrook Plaza Drive near Hanes Mall. All three list delivery and a drive-thru open until 3 a.m.; the dining rooms close earlier.

Taqueria Los Juanes is family-owned and family-run. Its menu features tacos made to order on hand-pressed tortillas, shrimp, fish and ceviche, and margaritas, micheladas and aguas frescas.

Tulum Bar & Grill on North Cherry Street calls itself an authentic Mexican restaurant inspired by the beaches of Tulum, Mexico. It has a separate bar menu and takes orders by phone.
